Empowering Deaf Children

A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO THE HEARING JOURNEY

The journey of deaf children and their families through hearing impairment is often multifaceted, demanding careful attention, specialized support, and informed decisions. Amidst this intricate path, there exists a need for dedicated champions who navigate this journey alongside them, fostering early intervention, advocating for appropriate technology, facilitating rehabilitation, and offering educational guidance. Here we delve into the holistic approach adopted by our organization, as we strive to empower deaf children and their families at every step of their hearing journey.

HearLife-Verein proudly honors Georg Mueller’s lifelong dedication to expanding hearing opportunities for children with deafness. In 1997, Maribel and Georg Mueller were tasked by Drs. Ingeborg and Erwin Hochmair – the pioneers behind the world’s first micro-electronic multi-channel cochlear implant and co-founders of MED-EL Innsbruck – established and led the MED-EL Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters. This initiative marked the beginning of cochlear implantation in the Philippines, and to date, over 700 children and adults now hear through MED-EL cochlear implant systems.

HearLife-Verein is committed to providing holistic, science-based post-implant programs to enhance hearing, speech, and language development. This is a collaborative effort aimed at maximizing the potential of every individual we serve.

HearLife-Verein, a non-governmental organization officially registered in Tirol, Austria, in 2019, is dedicated to supporting deaf children and their families on their journey to hearing and literacy through evidence-based programs.

We firmly believe that every deaf child deserves the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential, surpassing even their expectations. Our mission focuses on all deaf children in the Philippines, where at least eight profoundly deaf infants are born each day.

HearLife-Verein is committed to forging strong partnerships with both government and private entities to build a robust sponsorship pool, ensuring comprehensive rehabilitation and professional development opportunities.

At the heart of our mission lies the belief in the significance of early intervention. We recognize the critical window of opportunity during a child’s formative years and advocate for the timely implementation of hearing technology. We aim to maximize speech and language development by promoting early intervention and laying a strong foundation for future literacy skills.

Subsidizing Science-Based Rehabilitation

Central to our endeavors is the provision of science-based rehabilitation services, tailored to the unique needs of each child. Through strategic partnerships with esteemed rehabilitation centers, we subsidize access to comprehensive programs focused on speech and language acquisition. By investing in evidence-based practices, we empower deaf children to navigate the complexities of communication with confidence and proficiency.

Educational Guidance and Support

For families facing the daunting reality of limited options in hearing technology, we serve as a beacon of guidance and support. Our experts offer comprehensive information, empowering families to make informed decisions regarding their child’s educational path. Whether exploring alternative modes of communication or navigating specialized educational programs, we stand alongside families, providing unwavering support as they strive to unlock their child’s full potential.
